Over the past couple of months I went through all 1,088 websites in the tech sector that are traded publicly on the stock market. This was quite a tedious task that took me 3 different parts to do split up by letters (A-G, H-O, P-Z). The idea behind this was to see what companies that obviously have a technology background can do with their websites since they normally have large budgets to do so. You would think that most of the companies would have amazing websites, and it would be quite difficult to weed out the best. I was surprised by the number of the sites that really didn’t have anything impressive…from an aesthetic and even functional standpoint.

Now that I’ve looked through everything, I’d like to pick out the absolute 20 best of the best from the 135 that were picked out to be the best in their letter category:

Nobody can argue that blogs have been the talk of the web over the last couple of years. For those that can appreciate a good design, like myself, I thought it would be interesting to look at the Technorati Top 100 (Most Linked To and Most Favorited) blogs and see what the best of the best designs were. Now keep in mind that Technorati’s list is organic, meaning it constantly changes. I looked at all of the top 100 from each list on the evening of June 20th, 2007.

Speaking of design, for those interested, I am currently working on a custom design for my own blog here. Do you guys think it would be good enough to make this list? I do know that there are plenty of blogs out there with some amazing designs that can blow some of these out of the water. Feel free to post your comments with any links to what you think is the best of the best.

I spent the time to look through 414 websites of publicly traded companies in the technology sector starting with the letters A-G, and chose the 45 best designs. This is part 1 of 5, covering each range of letters, and then I plan on having the best of all designs to come up with a final list of best corporate designs in the tech sector.
