How To Drive Your Nice Car Long Distance With No Rock Chips

The Viper I just bought had literally NO paint chips or anything on the front bumper…I wanted to keep it like that. I learned a little trick when I was putting my 350Z in car shows. Cover the areas you want to protect with blue painters tape. The product works great because it doesn’t damage the paint, leaves no residue behind, and doesn’t cost much.

One thing to keep in mind is to try and put the end of the tape so they aren’t on the front end. This will help it go with the wind and not peel off at all when you’re driving.

Lol, if I saw that coming down the road I would be thinking…”What a loser, why does that guy have tape all over his car?”

I would have been so excited to get in and drive that I never would have thought to tape it up like that. You should have taped the entire car, lol.

You still look like a douche driving your car with tape on the front. Cars are made to be driven.

To me it defeats the purpose of having the tape there in the first place. The car looks like crap when its rolling. Who cares what it looks like when its sitting still. When its in motion, its art. When its sitting , its just metal, plastic, and glass.

@Sean – Because it was a one-time thing while I made a 600 mile trek back to my house in VA. The car is considered a collector, so I will definitely do whatever I can within reason to retain its value.

It’s not like the tape is a permanent thing. Not to mention saying I look like a douche driving with tape on th front, and saying that it’s meant to be driven are completely unrelated. The car is being driven lol. The tape doesn’t affect that.

Either way, I get what you’re saying, and I also agree with you in the big picture.
